STADA operation in the Asian region began with the establishment of its regional office in Hong Kong in 1992.  It was initially a joint venture company with another German partner.  In 1994, Stada AG Germany became the sole owner and thereafter the company became a 100% subsidiary of Stada AG and was renamed STADA Pharmaceuticals (Asia) Limited.

During the initial stage of operation, the main business activity of STADA Asia in the region was the export of the generic products from STADA AG, Germany.  A series of promotional programs collaborating closely with the respective agents in the region were carried out to establish the STADA brand.

In line with the market development and business trend, STADA Asia extends its business infrastructure into various important markets in the region, notably in China, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, starting from 1999. From that point onwards, there was no looking back.

The milestones achieved in the years to follow were:

*The total number of employees in the Asia region is 10 as at July 23, 2009.

STADA Asia’s head office has recently moved to a high-rise new commercial building, Kwun Tong 223.  The head office serves as the regional centre for coordination of activities of the other subsidiaries in the region. It has maintained the import of Stada AG’s products from Germany to the Far East and also representing some European companies in the distribution of its products in the region.
